I’m not sure if this post is necessary, seeing as most anime viewers would already have a general idea of what to watch, but let’s look at what’s coming up after K-ON! finishes.

Wait.

Mugi expressing the desire of thousands of K-ON! fans.

What will I do without K-ON!? But that’s a bit premature. First let me deal with some K-ON! news:

  • The main “plot” (K-ON!! didn’t really have one, did it?) of K-ON! will end at episode 24, while episode 25 and 26 are extra episodes, presumably like episode 14 of the first season.
  • Potential spoiler/rumour, but apparently the girls end up at the same university. Season 3? SEASON 3?

Anyway, let’s begin with Chartfag’s excellent seasonal chart of upcoming anime (despite the title of the website, it is safe for viewing), after the conveniently placed Read More link.

I make this dire warning, because this first video features K-ON! Which you may have surmised I like a lot. But fear not, this post is about games, and this video features the K-ON! PSP game coming out September 30 and available for approximately AU$75 from Play Asia, alongside a K-ON! PSP accessories pack that no would be embarrassing to take out in public which is priced at AU$56. Which is all very pricy considering Valkyria Chronicles 2 will only be AU$51.

Anyway, disregard that diatribe, because Yui sings the Sega jingle and it is kawaii!

(Note: the author was promptly shot after writing this. We have replaced him with a clone. Your scheduled post will not be interrupted).

It’s time for a Pokemon Black/White update! In some surprising news, it turns out that until you beat the Elite Four and get the National Dex, you will only see new Generation V Pokemon in the wild and in battles. Meaning you will not be able to get an Abra or Dratini at the Game Corner, presumably.

There’s a new trailer, and the game will have them animez cutscenes that them JRPGs have. Not much of them though, probably. It seems the big focus is on the wireless features. The C Gear seems to let you connect with local players IN-GAME, without the antiquated need to go to a Pokemon Centre. Your friends will even walk around in the overworld!

In what may be my final post before I leave for China, Pokemon news! There’s a new trailer for Pokemon, and it confirms that you will be able to upload your save game online and do something with it. It also seems that the game will have anime cutscenes, and also TRIPLE BATTLES.

And if you go to the official Japanese site you’ll see things like a modern drawbridge, a treacle covered gym, the female Professor, the weird “C Cog” Wireless mode interface and the two legendary mascot Pokemon, Reshiram and Zekrom.

I take a break from this annoyingly frustrating assignment I am working on to post this quick update. Pokemon Sunday recently released a video of Pokemon Black and White in action. It isn’t much, but it shows the new 3D perspective used in one of the cities.

Shokotan also holds up a picture of the Zorua and Zoruark battle scene and they talk about the skyscraper skyline.

Much like the Michael Jackson song, it doesn't matter which version you choose.

Yes, it’s the next generation of the Pokemon games, and they bring a few changes. However, it is likely that the mechanics of battle will remain unchanged for the most part, as usual. Below are some leaked scans from CoroCoro magazine showing some of the changes, such as camera angles which take advantage of the 3D rendering and the unification of Pokemarts and Pokemon Centres.

I have decided to take a break from Finance study and small bouts of playing SoulSilver to bring you a new post in this recently barren series of posts. Which now includes some anime news, because 10001 should encompass all the facets of my geeky/otaku nature. But it is still mostly gaming.

Gaming

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

Ubisoft might not be getting much goodwill for its tyrannical DRM system, but their recent push for live-action shorts to promote their games is getting them ticks in my book. After the Assassin’s Creed 2 prequel live-action shorts, they’ve come out with this amazing live-action trailer for an upcoming 20 minutes live-action short to promote Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

More specifically, it’s Zorua and it’s evolution Zoruark! Zoruark and possibly Zorua will appear in the next Pokemon movie, Phantom Ruler Zoruark. Unfortunately, they haven’t revealed the names of the 5th generation games just yet.

Were you intending to get one of those two titles in the title above? Well, you’re about to get deprecated, ’cause GENERATION 5 of Pokemon is about to be shown to the public. Below is the silhouette for what is likely to be one of the legendaries in GENERATION 5.

Who's that Pokemon?

However, in English speaking regions, please remember that Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are coming soon, and include a PokeWalker pedometer device to help train your Pokemanz.

Look at those logos!

Look at those logos!

Pokémon Sunday, a kids show on Japanese television that is a Pokémon version of Playhouse Disney or Toasted TV! or something, except without the cartoons, revealed this weekend the upcoming releases of Pokémon Heart Gold and Pokémon Soul Silver. Which, for those of you who have been living under a rock at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, are remakes of the Pokémon games Gold and Silver for the Game Boy Colour.
