As you may know, the Superbowl is American Football’s annual grand final. Ads during the broadcast of the Superbowl cost millions of dollars. Google has decided it needs advertising (why, I have no idea, Bing can’t be that popular) and it has made a very sweet ad.
Yes, it is exactly as the title says. Two people complained to the Advertising Standards Board that the advertisement encourages hooning.
Rather disappointing if you ask me, considering how few people complained overall. In addition, it is in closed conditions in a warehouse and not exactly on public roads. It also happens to be a pretty well executed advertisement. It’s also incredible how this can be considered dangerous as well, considering how slow the Z4 is actually moving in most of these shots, in contrast to most car advertisements out there.
Mo linked me to something and I watched it. I was mildly amused but was also annoyed by the voice, and composition of the ad. Mo understood my pain, but had this to say.
mo says (7:26 PM):
ye the voice did annoy me too
BUT IT HAS BEARDS HANS
mo says (7:27 PM):
HOW CAN YOU DENY BEARDS’ SEXUAL POWER?
He’s right, I can’t deny the sexual power of beards, so I shall post his video.
So, the new Kia Cerato is coming and at the Australian Open (sponsored by Kia), Kia has been pushing the launch of the new car by an advertisement.
Personally, I think the advertisement is done rather well. It’s not your typical car advertisement, builds interest in the car and the use of foreign languages such as German (presumably) gives the impression it has European influences, which is desirable these days in small cars for some reason or other.
This isn’t that recent, but most people should not know about this. Sometime last year, Audi made an advertisement that was to car people, a jab at Lexus. The advertisements depicts an Audi A4 ‘power parking’ itself between a Lexus Ls460 and a Lexus IS250/350. The Lexus LS460 got a lot of attention from the media for the world’s first self-parking car, an Audi takes a jab at them by parking their A4 and displaying the tagline. “The luxury car for people who can park themselves.” The advertisement is shown below.
Lexus, obviously miffed at this, decided to respond, and here is the response…
