Sculpted velour upholstery? How bland. I have a sculpted velour puma. It could rip apart your upholstery with its bare plush claws.

Most of you probably don’t watch F1, but last night’s Hungarian GP had a pretty dangerous move by Michael Schumacher against Rubens Barrichello. I’ve embedded a youtube video below showing you the incident and the interview with the two drivers below, I apologise for the annoying music at the start – this was the best video I could find.

For those that don’t know, Schumacher is in the Mercedes silver car, while Barrichello is in the Williams blue/white car.

The Top Gear Test Track

like we’ve never seen before.

The track’s a lot narrower than I imagined. It looks like it’ll be quite tough to navigate during a time trial, let alone a full race.

In any case, can’t wait to have a spin on the track with the Reasonably Priced Car (which I sure hope is included… with a cockpit view, unlike the 800+ standard cars).

Well, I’m done too!

I don’t have any massive list of epic music offering like Ben did in the last post, but I was browsing in my music library, and stumbled across this:

Apparently this was used in a 2006 Lexus LS400 commercial (which I tried to Google, and was not able to find).

So far this year, I have been disappointed by the state of the racing game genre. The demo for Split/Second made it a no buy for me (at least not until it’s less than $50), and the trailers for Blur do not impress so that’s probably a no buy. Gran Turismo 5 is apparently going to come out this year, and it better, because of the length of time people have been waiting for it.

So overall, a rather poor year for racing games for my PS3.

Luckily, things may be salvaged by the release of Test Drive Unlimited 2 in September this year.

Test Drive Unlimited was frankly the first Test Drive game I was ever interested in. It did exactly what I dreamed of as a child, playing my first racing games – give us a whole free game world to roam that is actually a real place in the world. The game was modelled (very realistically, although there were some minor differences) on the island of Oahu. Unfortunately, I could never get the game because the PS3 did not come out in time for it, and I thought that playing it on the graphically weak PS2 or PSP sort of defeated the purpose.

Never mind, because Test Drive Unlimited 2 is coming out, and it’s going to be released on PS3/360/PC. It will allow gamers to explore the Mediterranean island of Ibiza.

I have died laughing.

As the description goes, “Two ridiculously over excited parents happen upon the Top Gear team on the A303 and film it for their absent, Top Gear loving 10 year old son.”

I’d like to know what they are smoking, cause I’d like to have some.

… is what I want to say.

Unfortunately, the above vehicle is a real production car, the Hyundai Sonata hybrid, which has been just shown off at the New York Motor Show.

A picture says a thousand words, so I don’t think I need to comment more.

An interesting story

A man has crashed his Toyota pickup into a dealership after being refused a refund.

According to Louisiana newspaper The Advocate, Mikel Valviva drove his Toyota to All Star Toyota in Baton Rouge to ask for his money back following a recall.

He was offered a loan car while his was repaired but he refused. He was reportedly attempting to drive away when he drove into a cosmetic column in front of the building.

Valviva claimed he couldn’t stop because of his accelerator sticking — the exact reason he was at the dealership in the first place.

Toyota has suspended the sale of eight models and recalled more than 2 million cars due to faulty accelerator pedals.

Lexus LFA Engine Note

As some of you may have probably gathered by now, I’m a big fan of the new Lexus LFA supercar. Yes, the pricing is completely insane, but I think it’s good for Toyota to finally release a supercar.

One thing I’m said a lot of times though is that the engine note by this car is just fantastic in every way. The price might be expensive, but if I was in the market for a supercar, I would say the LFA ranks among the top for the best engine notes. And seeing as supercars are bought “with the heart” as Clarkson puts it, the Lexus LFA might make a compelling argument, despite its price.

The first video below is a clip which seems to be like the Lexus promotional video but without the overlaying music. The engine sounds brilliant from every angle. The high pitched roar, the throttle blip on the downshift, the spine-tingling vibrations, everything is just perfect…

It is probably the closest to a Formula 1 car in sound of any supercar out there right now.
